Performance Studies Financial Aid Opportunities

Ph.D. Program

All newly admitted Ph.D. students are offered a four-year comprehensive fellowship program that includes full tuition and fee remission, comprehensive health insurance coverage and a stipend.  Students will be required to work in a Graduate Assistantship for two of the four years of the fellowship.  Additionally, during the first year of entry to the Ph.D. program, students will receive a supplementary fellowship to assist with book purchases and other academic startup costs, and students will receive a housing subsidy.

Further questions regarding the details of the Ph.D. financial packages can be addressed by contacting the Department.

M.A. Program

Upon the receipt of an admission offer, M.A. students will receive notification from  the Department of Performance Studies if they have been recommended for any departmental financial aid.  Aid is either awarded in the form of a Graduate Assistantship offer which includes a stipend, full tuition and fee remission and comprehensive health insurance, or an offer of full tuition remission.  Occasionally, partial tuition awards are offered based on availability of resources.

Students who do not receive award offers from the Department of Performance Studies are invited to contact Tisch Graduate Admissions to discuss other funding possibilities.  Please see Related Links on this page.

Graduate Assistantships

Students who are offered a Graduate Assistantship will be considered for a number of various positions within either the Department of Performance Studies or the Department of Undergraduate Drama.  Assistantships range from Research Assistant work with resident faculty, working on one of the Department’s publications, or limited teaching opportunities.  Graduate Assistants are placed by the Department and  every effort is made to provide an experience that balances individual student’s background with the needs of the Department.

For more information, please contact the Department of Performance Studies.
